The Newport-Irvine Rotary Club awarded three $1,000 scholarships to meritorious students that graduated from Olive Crest. Brenetta Wallace, Erika Browell, and Thalia Gomez-Garcia were selected among various applicants by a committee of Rotarians that evaluated their applications and selected the awardees. All of the applicants wrote compelling essays about themselves and how the $1,000 scholarship would impact their lives.

Erika Browel is currently at Fullerton College studying Music (vocal) and Psychology.  Brenetta Wallace is currently at California State University at Fullerton where she is pursuing a master’s degree in Social Work. Thalia Gomez Garcia is at Santa Ana College studying English and will transfer to UCI this summer, 2014.

Their scholarships, which are for expenses associated with attending college or trade school, were awarded at a Rotary meeting on 12 June, 2014. In addition to the three awardees, Olive Crest was represented by Ami Rowland, Residential Director and Joey Collinsworth, manager transitional housing programs and alumni services.
